Historic Locomotives Power To Auction This June
On behalf of Bord Na Móna, Wilsons Auctions will be offering bidders the opportunity to purchase a selection of iconic bespoke diesel locomotives.
The use of the narrow gauge locomotives has been essential to Bord Na Mona’s operations for moving peat from the bogs to production facilities. Specifically tailored to withstand Irish conditions, the equipment needed for peat production throughout history had to be rugged and adaptable.
Allocated to auction are five 12 tonne diesel powered, 2 axle locomotives. Located in Ballykillen, County Offaly, Ireland, the assets were fully overhauled with engines reconditioned in 2017. Presented in a timed online format, bidding will open from 10am on Tuesday 25th June. Registered bidders will have a lengthy window of 7 days to submit their bids until the lots will begin to timeout from 1pm on Tuesday 2nd July.

This auction is one of three in a series of auctions hosted on behalf of Bord na Móna, an iconic Irish company.
